Wahoos Kickoff 2013 Campaign

The Royal Oak side opened the 2013 campaign on a bright sunny day, welcoming the Welkinsin from Port Huron. As the captains introduced their teams to a good sized crowd of cranks, theballists stood at attention awaiting the commencement of the action. The traditional tossing of the batbetween the captains resulted in the home team taking the field first on defense.

The day started ominously for the home nine, as they booted several struck balls into base hits.When the dust had settled on the top of the first inning the Welkins held a five run lead. The Wahoofielders however settled in and played excellent defense for the balance of the contest. The homebats also heated up over the course of the game and the home team was able to chip away atthe lead and send ten men across the plate. An excellent catch in left field by new player Jason“Hoosier” Thompson ended the game with the Wahoo club earning a slim 10-9 decision.
