Police Say I-94 Shooting Victim Was Targeted

DETROIT, MI β A 28-year-old man shot multiple times and critically injured as he drove on Interstate 94 around 12:30 p.m. Friday was targeted, police said.
βThere may have been some type of incident or dispute that led up to this shooting,β Lt. Calvin Hart told The Detroit News. βIt is believed that the individuals in the vehicle were targeted by somebody.β

The victim, who was still in critical condition late Friday night, was struck in the head, midsection and leg while driving west on I-94 near the Lodge Freeway.

Interstate 94 has reopened to traffic as police investigate what lead to the violence that left a 28-year-old Detroit man critically wounded.
Michigan State Police Lt. Calvin Hart told the Detroit Free Press the shooting "doesn't appear to be random," and that the shooter and injured man may have been involved in some sort of dispute. He was driving on the freeway when multiple gunshots were fired.

A man who was shot on Interstate 94 in Detroit is in critical condition, and a manhunt is continuing for the suspect who shot him about 12:30 p.m. Friday, police said.
Media, including The Detroit News, are reporting that the man was shot multiple times. A female passenger, 25, is talking with investigators. it's unclear if the victim and the suspect knew one another, and the motive is unclear.
I-94 will remain closed at the I-75 through the afternoon rush hour, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.

The I-94 northbound ramp to the Lodge Freeway reopened about 12:45 p.m., MDOT said, and people using I-94 should expect delays. Traffic has been backed up for more than two miles.
Details of the shooting, which occurred about 12:30 p.m., are sketchy. The suspect is still at large.
The Michigan State Police said in a tweet that the shooting victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, and that the victim's family members are being contacted.
