As a youth, back in the day, one of the things that excited me the most about Royal Oak was walking to the Main theatre for a friend’s birthday. The Saturday, double feature matinee was the prize, hanging out with my buddies a memory I’ll never forget. (Swiss Family Robison was on the marquee)
This past week I went to a double feature of another kind and saw our excited youth celebrating here in Royal Oak. This time it was for their successful football season. With one game left and the freshman football team totting a 6-2 record I am getting fired up for their last game this coming Thursday at home.
The varsity team was the second feature, beating the Berkley Bears on Friday night in a close game that kept the on lookers on the edge of their seats the whole game. They also are starting to accumulate a few wins, something I haven’t seen since the old days here in Royal Oak.
