Candidate Katie Reiter Knocks 10,000 Democrats' Doors

And she's still knocking!

Democrat Katie Reiter, who is running for State Representative in District 35, finished knocking nearly 10,000 democratic doors in her district. And she’s not done — Reiter will knock the district a second time in the coming months.

“I believe it’s vital to hear what the people of this community have to say,” Katie said. “I am not running to be a ‘career’ politician in Lansing who isn’t connected with the issues here at home.”

That’s why Katie called her first knocking tour a “knock and listen” campaign. After introducing herself, she asked those who answered their doors “What would you like your state representative to fight for?’

Katie found that 55% of those she talked to care about one of three main issues: the abyssal condition of the roads, the high price of car insurance and the deteriorating state of our public schools.

“One woman told me her mother, who is 85 years old and owns an older car, drives to church and the grocery store — that’s it,” Katie said. “And this woman pays over $5000 annually for car insurance. That is unacceptable.”

Katie said she will hold car insurance companies accountable for their discriminatory red-ling practices and for the unaccountable money in the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association, while ensuring proper revenue sharing to local municipalities to address our roads and schools (for more information on how Katie will fight for working families, please visit Katie’s website, katiereiter.com).

For now, Katie will continue to run her campaign by doing what matters: talking to the people of District 35.

“I am running because I am sick and tired of the same old inaction from career politicians,” Katie said. “I am going to Lansing to be a voice for our community. In order to be a voice for your community, you have to actually be engaged with the community and listen to what the people say. ”

She added, “so when I knock your door a second time, please know I am there to listen.”

Reiter is running on a healthy families, healthy community, healthy economy platform. Read more about what she will do for working families at katiereiter.com or on her Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @votereiter
