Church's Easter Sunday, Holy Week Offerings Go to Flint

Royal Oak First United Methodist Church is donating Easter Sunday, Tenebrae and Good Friday offerings to the Flint water crisis.

ROYAL OAK, MI – On Easter Sunday, congregants at the Royal Oak First United Methodist Church will be asked to donate the amount of their monthly water bills — or $5, $10 or $20 — to help the residents of Flint deal with a public health crisis created by lead contamination in the city’s water supply.

Tenebrae – A Service of Shadows and Communion: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the church, 320 W. Seventh St. A freewill offering at the door goes to the residents of Flint.

Good Friday services: Friday, March 25, noon, 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. Freewill offerings go to the residents of Flint.

Easter services: Sunday, March 27, Easter Sunrise Services, 7:15 a.m.; Arise! Worship, 9 a.m.; Traditional Worship, 11 a.m. Also, the annual Easter egg hunt will be held on the church lawn at 10:30 a.m.

As We Gather: Finally, the church holds special services at 11 a.m. on the last Thursday of each month, called As We Gather. The services are held in the chapel.
