Civil War Muster at Royal Oak's Starr House This Weekend
Uniformed military and costumed civilian re-enactors will be on hand at event featuring musket demonstrations, musket drills for kids.

ROYAL OAK, MI – If you’re looking for something to do this weekend in Royal Oak, the historic Orson Starr House is hosting a Civil War Muster featuring uniformed military and civilian re-enactors, musket firing demonstrations and musket drills for kids, among other activities.
The event at the Starr House, 3123 N. Main St., takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
It’s free, and parking is available in the Salvation Army’s north lot.

Orson Starr, a farmer from upstate New York, was among early Royal Oak settlers who moved west in the 1820s and 1830s to farm, raise their families and worship according to their beliefs, according to the city of Royal Oak website.

The Orson Starr House is listed in Michigan’s State Register of Historic Sites and has been designated as an historic district. The Orson Starr House Historic District has also received the official project designation of "Save America’s Treasures," awarded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
