Deadly I-75 Crash Leaves 1 Dead: Police

Witnesses told officials that the the second vehicle was speeding prior to the crash, police said.

HAZEL PARK, MI — One person died Tuesday morning in a car crash on southbound Interstate 75 north of Eight Mile Road, Michigan State Police said.

Officials said the driver struck a guardrail separating I-75 from the Eight Mile exit ramp at 3:00 a.m. The driver then stopped his vehicle, which blocked the two right lanes of traffic, police said.

The man then got out of his vehicle to look at the damage when a second vehicle crashed into that car and struck the man, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said.

The two people in the second car were taken to Royal Oak Beaumont hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The freeway was closed for hours, but has since reopened, police said.
