One of Detroit's Hottest New Restaurants is in Royal Oak
Three of Detroit Free Press food critic's highly anticipated new restaurants are in Royal Oak, Birmingham and Ferndale.

Three new Oakland County restaurants received mouth-watering previews from Detroit Free Press food critic Sylvia Rector, who profiled five highly anticipated restaurants in Metro Detroit.
Jim Brady’s Detroit in Royal Oak opened Monday in the former Oxford Inn on South Main Street, and Arthur Avenue in Birmingham and GreenSpace Café in Ferndale both open to the public on Tuesday.

What Makes Them Special
Jim Brady’s Detroit honors the original Diamond Jim Brady’s bar and grill opened in 1955, and is owned by Brady’s grandson, Tom Brady, and a family friend Darin Dingman. Some of the original recipes — Caesar dressing, signature chili and Diamond Jim Brady’s Special Sandwich — are featured in what Rector described as a beautifully remodeled 184-seat bar and restaurant, as well as new concoctions like decadent mac-and-cheese. The menu and style at Arthur Avenue, 260 N. Old Woodward in downtown Birmingham, were inspired by a street in New York known as “Little Italy of the Bronx.” The restaurant serving Italian classics and more modern fare is located next door to its sister restaurant, Au Cochon. The menu was developed by co-owner Zach Sklar and executive chef Mark Barbarich.
GreenSpace Café, 215 W.Nine Mile Road, is Metro Detroit’s first gourmet vegan restaurant and cocktail bar and features a non-GMO, plant-based menu and craft cocktails made from raw juices. The restaurant, founded by cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn and his son, Daniel Kahn, offers fare like ancient-grain penne pasta and pistachio-kale pesto topped with ammoglio sauce; arepas (corn pancakes) filled with pulled Maitake mushrooms with Cuban black beans and creamy salsa verde; and Red Jasmine rice-noodle pad Thai.
