Drugs and Peer Pressure: Why it Doesn’t Just Affect Teens

Peer pressure affects people of all ages. Especially when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction.

Drug and alcohol abuse is a growing and very prevalent problem all across the United States and in a big way too. This is an issue and crisis problem that has made bigger and bigger problems all across the nation too. One and the same, these are crisis factors that have made bigger and bigger issues that have all one and the same created a nationwide epidemic that has never been seen before, at least not on the order of magnitude that it is currently being experienced on.

Substance abuse is a crisis of the very worst kind, one of which only seems to further negatively impact the residents of this country. The truth is, if nothing is done to correct the rising addiction epidemic of the 21st century then the problem will surely only get far worse.
Drug and alcohol addiction is a growing issue within American families, especially with parents of young children, and with teens too. These two demographics statistically speaking are often the most affected by these crisis issues. For example:

  • Sadly, drug and alcohol abuse affects far more than just those who abuse the drugs themselves, regardless of that person’s age. What has actually been occurring here is that the vast majority of this nation’s addicts are between the ages of 18 and 30, and that has meant that there are a lot of children who have addicts for parents.
  • Being a parent and abusing drugs and alcohol is a terrible thing to do. This is perhaps the worst crime an addict can commit, and that is to try to raise a child while being addicted to drugs and alcohol, and all of the negativity and problems that come from that. It is a cruel and an unfair thing to do, to say the least as odds are that child or teen will become addicted to drugs and alcohol too, if not from peer pressure, then simply because of the environment that the kid grew up in.
  • Studies show to us now that a child who is raised by addict parents will be about four to ten times more likely to become addicted to drugs and alcohol themselves later on in life, depending on how prevalent and common the parents’ addiction problem is in that child’s life.

Resolving Peer Pressure and Addiction Through Rehabilitation

Without a doubt, the single best way to tackle a drug and alcohol addiction problem is with the help of an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehabilitation program, and recovery organization. These centers and these programs are able to address both the physical and the mental sides of addiction both, which is quite helpful for all involved.
Substance abuse is a crisis, to say the least, but it does not have to be. In fact, addiction can be taken down a notch once and for all and for good with the help of the right addiction treatment program, as can peer pressure and the mental impulses to abuse drug and alcohol addiction.
Drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse, in general, is a very negatively impacting and all-encompassing hardship in a person’s life. Once one gets it, no matter if they are a teen, a young adult, a child, a parent, or an older adult, it is very difficult to get rid of it at that point. This is the cold, brutal truth of the matter.
Thankfully, inpatient addiction treatment centers can address and resolve these problems once and for all and for good in all who are affected by it. For more information visit the website SAFE (Stopping Addiction with Family Education.) Visit SAFE or Call 877 503 2608.
