Drunken Driving Checkpoints in Metro Detroit This Weekend

Southfield police running checks Thursday through Saturday as part of national effort to reduce drunk-driving crashes by 20 percent.

(Posted Nov. 3, 2016) METRO DETROIT, MI — Driving in the vicinity of Southfield this weekend? If you're drinking, make sure you have a designated driver. A three-day "Vote Designated Driver" campaign modeled after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign runs Thursday through Saturday, and is aimed at prevention rather than prosecution, Lt. Ted Goff of the Southfield Police Department told The Detroit News.
