During Workouts, Thieves Went to Work: Police Blotter

Several gym members reported the theft of wallets and other personal property from secure storage lockers.

Royal Oak, MI — Several customers of a Royal Oak fitness center reported stolen wallets and other personal property after the locks were cut off several storage lockers, police said.

The thefts occurred at L.A. Fitness, 25352 Woodward Ave., between 10:40-11:51 p.m. Tuesday, Royal Oak police said in the weekly police blotter.

One of the suspects used a set of keys stolen from a locker to steal a wallet from the center console of the victim’s vehicle, according to police.

Police do have one suspect, a white male who was wearing a green T-shirt and black sweatpants. Witnesses reported seeing him get into the passenger seat of a late model blue Lincoln after the thefts, police said. A description of the driver was not available.

Larceny

2400 block of Brockton, 6-09-16 – 6-15-16, 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect entered her unlocked residence and stole an undisclosed amount of loose change from a spare bedroom. 16-22160

1500 block of Maryland Club, 6-29-16 – 6-30-16, 9:00 p.m. – 8:35 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 2016 Jeep Cherokee near his residence. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had entered his unlocked vehicle and stole the in-dash navigation system. 16-22870

2200 block of Brockton, 6-30-16, 12:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 2015 Chrysler Town and Country in the driveway. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had entered the unlocked vehicle and stole the in-dash navigation system. 16-22863

Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile

1800 block of Newporte Court, 6-19-16 – 6-27-16, 7:00 a.m. – 11:51 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 2014 Buick Verano in the apartment complex parking lot prior to leaving for vacation. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had stolen his vehicle. 16-22561

Larceny from an Automobile

115 S. Campbell (Royal Oak Church of Christ), 6-23-16, 6:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.: Complainant reported she parked her 2016 Chrysler Town and Country in the Church parking lot. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had entered her unlocked vehicle and stole the in-dash navigation system.

A witness observed a bright blue small sedan occupied by a white male, 25 to 30-years-old, in the parking lot just prior to the theft. Anyone with information about this incident should contact Criminal Investigation Division Lt. David Clemens at (248) 246-3456. 16-22053

2400 block of Parmenter, 6-21-16 – 6-23-16, 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m.: Complainant reported she parked her 2000 Pontiac Sunfire in the complex parking area. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had stolen the catalytic converter. 16-21997

4300 block of Elmwood, 6-26-16, 12:01 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.: Complainant reported she parked her car on the street in front of her residence. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a backpack containing an HP laptop computer. 16-22494

4900 block of Cara Court, 6-21-16 – 6-26-16, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle near his residence. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a flashlight, phone charger, and an undisclosed amount of currency. 16-22473

1800 block of Dallas, 6-27-16 – 6-28-16, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 2000 Buick Lesabre on the street near his residence. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had stolen the catalytic converter. 16-22652

Farnum and Maxwell (Meininger Park), 6-28-16, 10:00 a.m. – 11:27 a.m.: Complainant reported she parked her car on Farnum near the park. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had entered her unlocked vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of currency from her purse. 16-22674

Malicious Destruction of Property

300 block of N. Troy, 6-22-16 – 6-23-16, 8:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Complainant reported she parked her vehicle near her residence. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had broken out the driver side window. 16-22011

200 block of Baldwin, 6-23-16 – 6-24-16, 10:30 p.m. – 5:45 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in his driveway. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had broken the rear windshield. 16-22091

Motel Checks

29806 Woodward (Palms Motel), 6-24-16, 4:22 a.m.: Officers conducted a motel check and located a subject with outstanding misdemeanor warrants for Domestic Violence and Disturbing the Peace. He was arrested without incident. 16-22090

28300 Woodward (Seville Motel), 6-24-16, 2:55 a.m.: Officers conducted a motel check and located a subject with felony warrant for Uttering and Publishing and a misdemeanor warrant for Retail Fraud. He was arrested without incident. 16-22085
