Elementary School Open Houses Begin Next Week in Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK, MI — Open houses at each of Royal Oak’s six elementary schools begin next week.

Each open house provides families in the Royal Oak school district the opportunity to see classroom facilities, meet the building principal and learn about instructional programs.

Here’s the schedule:

• Wednesday, March 23, 6:30 p.m., Oak Ridge Elementary, 506 E. 13 Mile
• Wednesday, March 23, 6:30 p.m., Upton Elementary, 4400 Mandalay
• Tuesday, March 29, 6:30 p.m., Keller Elementary, 1505 N. Campbell
• Tuesday, March 29, 6:30 p.m., Oakland Elementary, 2415 E. Brockton
• Thursday, March 31, 6:30 p.m., Addams Elementary, 2222 W. Webster
• Thursday, March 31, 6:30 p.m., Northwood Elementary, 926 W. 12 Mile

Royal Oak is a Schools of Choice District for Oakland County residents in kindergarten, first, second and third grades. Once students are enrolled as Schools of Choice students in the district, they may continue to attend through high school, provided the enrollment is continuous.

Parents may enroll students at the district’s central location at 800 DeVillen in Royal Oak. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and enrollment office hours are 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Enrollments need to be started by 4 p.m. to allow time for the completion of the enrollment process by 4:30 p.m. when the office closes.

To register a child for school, parents should bring the following with them to the Enrollment Office:

• Two proofs of residency — current utility bill or cable bill, lease agreement, tax statement, mortgage statement, or a notarized affidavit of residence (if living in someone else’s home, along with two proofs of their residency)
• Birth certificate (original or certified)
• Driver’s license (of parent or guardian)
• Immunization records
• Vision screening required for Kindergarten
