Enjoy the Flavors of Michigan Summer at Dessert Oasis

At Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters in Rochester Hills, Detroit and Royal Oak, a new way of drinking coffee was launched this summer.

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us and with Michigan’s season being so short, we want to savor every minute of it. We want breakfast, lunch and dessert with light flavors that remind us of warm days and summer vacation.

Crepes and summer cakes of lemon, blueberry and lavender. Michigan ice creams, cold coffees and airy cheesecakes.

Certainly, Michiganders’ love and need for coffee don’t wane even on the hottest days. Coffee lovers will still happily sip the hottest cup of their brew no matter what the humidity. However, new ways to enjoy high-quality coffee can also keep us cool.

At Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters in Rochester Hills, Detroit and Royal Oak, a new way of drinking coffee was launched this summer and is already wildly popular. DOCR’s Brazil Bom Café Snapchilled™ canned coffee- 12 ounces cans sold individually or in six-packs - is ready-to-drink, single-origin and completely unlike the usual cold-brew process of seeping the coffee grounds for 12-24 hours. Brazil Bom Café is fruited and vibrant with notes of strawberries, chocolate and meringue cookies and is naturally sweet without any additives or artificial sweeteners. Its Ethiopian Snapchilled is sold out.

Snapchilled™ uses a unique process of “snap chilling” the coffee to immediately cool it before canning. The coffee is brewed hot but quickly cooled to temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit within minutes to maintain the more delicate aromas and flavors that can get lost many times in long cold brew processes.

Snapchilled coffee with lemony crepes makes for a perfect Michigan summer breakfast or lunch.

“At our Royal Oak and Rochester locations, our crepes of house-made batter, fresh blueberries house-made lavender-infused whipped cream, Guernsey vanilla ice cream, and shaved lemon peel is the epitome of Michigan summer,” Dessert Oasis President, Nathan Hamood said. “Perfectly titled Liv Lav Luv crepe, the name was originally a light-hearted way that the staff referred to it, but it caught on quickly and became a summer favorite.”

Hamood said an in-demand dessert is caramel latte cheesecake.

“It’s popular in the summer because it’s not as heavy as something like a triple chocolate cheesecake, which still sells well year-round,” Hamood said. “But it’s our lavender lemon blueberry sponge that we can’t make fast enough. It’s perfect with morning coffee hot or cold, and perfect to serve after dinner.”

Hamood notes the Snapchill coffee has tasting notes of blue raspberry, and deep, developed and sweet Blackberry cordial, with some elderflower liquor and lime citrus, and is naturally sweet, without any additives or artificial sweeteners – a nice pairing with summer cakes. It is also convenient to take when on the go during summer and fall road trips.

However, if hot coffee is still your desire during summer days, Hamood recommends a perfect black cup.

“If you’re looking for a black coffee, we have an incredible Colombia lot, our Colombia El Paseo from an award-winning producer. A really awesome “anaerobic fermentation” processing method that’s very popular right now. It’s very bright and lively - tastes like tropical fruit (mango), plum and raspberry. I start my day with it lately because it tastes like summer.”

Sounds like Michigan summer at its best!
