Family Fun Saturday at Royal Oak Fire Department Open House

Demonstrations, refreshments and other fun activities featured at open house at the conclusion of Fire Prevention Week.

To conclude Fire Prevention Week, Royal Oak firefighters will hold their annual open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Fire Station No. 1, 215 E. Sixth St.

The popular family event will feature demonstrations, refreshments and other fun activities.

The fire department was organized in 1908 in William Sullivan’s home. First organized as an all volunteer agency, it became a paid department with a few paid staffers in 1922, a year after Royal Oak went from village to city status.
