Festival in Royal Oak Features Michigan-Made Films

100 independent films over the weekend at Emagine Theater.

(Originally published Oct. 12, 2016) ROYAL OAK, MI — Thefirst-ever Royal Starr Arts Institute and Film Festival is this weekend, featuring 100 independent films. Half of the submissions were made by Michigan filmmakers, Billy Whitehouse, secretary-treasurer of Royal Starr Institute, told The Daily Tribune.

The festival is Friday through Sunday at Emagine Theater in Royal Oak.

The featured films were selected from 300 submissions nationwide, Whitehouse said. “There’s really incredible stuff we’re going to showcase,” he told the Tribune.
