Fire that Damaged Parking Structure Intentionally Set: Police
Investigators found PVC pipe, cardboard boxes and flammable liquid near the stairwell of parking structure.

Royal Oak, MI — A 15-year-old Brown City resident has been charged with arson in juvenile court after investigators determined a fire in a parking structure at 300 S. Lafayette earlier this month was intentionally set, Royal Oak police said
Authorities responding to a report of a fire near the stairwell of the lower level of the structure around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1, discovered construction material consisting of cardboard boxes, sections of PVC pipe and flammable liquid stored near the stairwell, according to a news release from the Royal Oak Police Department.
Fire investigators from Royal Oak and Oakland County said a stairwell window shattered and adjacent walls suffered superficial damage.

No one was injured and no vehicles were damaged, according to police.
A witness provided information which led to the identification and arrest of the juvenile, who was visiting friends in the area over the weekend.

2100 block of E. Lincoln, 7-1-16 – 7-2-16, 9:30 p.m. – 2:15 a.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect broke into the residence. The suspect entered through an unlocked kitchen window and stole an Xbox video game console, video games, eight (8) cans of beer, and a bed sheet. 16-23141
1407 E. Eleven Mile (Sylvia’s Dry Cleaning), 7-2-16 – 7-3-16, 2:30 p.m. – 10:20 a.m.: A Royal Oak resident reported he was jogging past the business and observed the glass on the front door was broken out. When officers arrived they discovered an unknown suspect had broken out the glass with a large piece of concrete, entered the business, and stole an undisclosed amount of currency from the cash register. 16-23340
300 block of Phillips, 6-30-16 – 7-6-16, 12:45 p.m. – 15:21 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect broke into the residence by forcing open the rear door. The suspect stole a 32” flat screen television, an undisclosed amount of currency, and a key fob. 16-23677
1200 block of Vinsetta, 6-30-16, 1:50 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.: Complainant reported he left the door open to his landscaping trailer while he was working. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect entered the trailer and stole a backpack blower, stick edger, weed whipper, and a hedge trimmer. 16-22902
3000 block of W. Thirteen Mile, 6-30-16, 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect entered her apartment and stole a 32” television. There was no sign of forced entry. 16-22935
100 S. Main (Cantina Diablos), 7-3-16, 1:00 a.m. – 1:15 a.m.: Complainant reported she left her purse unattended at a booth for a short period of time. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had stolen an undisclosed amount of currency and her mobile phone from her purse. 16-23302
Larceny from an Automobile
1300 block of Mohawk, 7-1-16, 2:10 a.m. – 10:20 a.m.: Complainant reported she parked her 1998 Acura Integra on the street in front of her residence. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had stolen the catalytic converter. 16-23052
1200 block of N. Altadena, 7-3-16 – 7-4-16, 4:00 p.m. – 5:25 a.m.: Complainant reported she parked her 2004 Chevrolet Venture near her residence. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had stolen the catalytic converter. A witness observed a dark colored four door sedan in the area just prior to the theft. 16-23415
1500 block of N. Altadena, 7-4-16, 5:15 a.m.: While investigating the report of a suspicious vehicle on N. Altadena stopping near vehicles, officers located a 2003 Oldsmobile minivan parked on the street. Upon further inspection officers discovered the catalytic converter had been stolen. 16-23414
900 block of E. Second, 6-29-16 – 7-1-16, 10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 2003 Chevrolet Malibu on the street in front of his residence. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had stolen the catalytic converter. 16-23186
900 block of N. Kenwood, 7-2-16 – 7-4-16, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Complainant reported he parked his 1999 Chevrolet Lumina on the street in front of his residence. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had stolen the catalytic converter. 16-23661
3400 block of Chester, 7-2-16, 12:30 p.m. – 12:44 p.m.: Complainant reported while he was mowing a lawn an unknown suspect stole a backpack leaf blower, weed whipper, stick edger, and a hedge trimmer from the bed of his pickup truck. A witness observed a silver SUV stopped next to the victim’s truck just prior to the crime and an unknown subject near the victim’s vehicle before the SUV quickly left the area eastbound on Chester. 16-23179

Malicious Destruction of Property
1812 N. Main Street (National Coney Island parking lot), 6-30-16, 9:19 p.m.: Complainant reported she honked her horn at the driver of a vehicle blocking an aisle. The suspect exited his vehicle, yelled profanities at her, and struck the hood of her car with his fist causing a
ent. The suspect returned to his vehicle and fled the area before police arrived on the scene. The case is being investigated. 16-22950
