Flint Pediatrician Among ROHS Hall of Fame Inductees, Keynote Speaker

Ten Royal Oak High School graduates and two educators will be inducted in the Royal Oak High School Fall of Fame.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician who informed the world about the Flint water crisis, is among 10 alumni and two educators who will be named to the 2016 Royal Oak High School Hall of Fame, and will deliver the keynote address at a December induction ceremony.

The Dec. 4 ceremony at Royal Oak High School Auditorium is open to the public. The 2016 Royal Oak High School Hall of Fame include:

Julie Boledovich (Class of 1999): Community leader and mental health champion who raised more than $120,000. Founder of the non-profit Mind Over Matter (MOM) to create a safe place to discuss mental illness and suicide.

Anne Hartrick Cook (Class of 1975): Royal Oak Schools paraprofessional who survived a catastrophic accident as a 19 year-old, but went on to earn a college degree. She raised a family and serves many schools in the district, not missing a single day of work since she began in 1999.

James Curnow (Class of 1959): Composer of more than 400 works for concert and brass band, orchestra and choir; commissions include the U.S. Army Band, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan State University bands.

Cynthia DeAlmeida (Class of 1977): Internationally honored and recorded oboist featured with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Marie Donigan (Class of 1972): Michigan state representative with service in education, health care, public transportation and the economy.

Mona Hanna-Attisha (Class of 1994): Pediatrician who helped expose the high levels of lead in Flint’s water supply. Named one of Time Magazine’s ‘Time 100 Pioneers’.

Melinda Jayne Loftin (Class of 1974): Ethics official for the U.S. Department of Interior, U.S. Air Force and the White House.

Alexander Maximovich (Class of 1967): Director of Gynecologic Endoscopy at William Beaumont Hospital, award-winning doctor and teacher featured on radio and television over 240 times.

Daniel Polsgrove (Class of 1994): Air Force astrophysicist and award-winning instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Amy Ronayne Krause (Class of 1980): District and Court of Appeals judge, former assistant attorney general, chair of the Michigan Drug Treatment Court Advisory Committee.

Jack Stephan: Royal Oak Kimball High School Principal for 22 years who began his career with Royal Oak Schools in 1953.

Tracey Yokich (Class of 1978): Probate and Circuit Court kudge. Three-term Michigan House of Representatives serving on the Appropriation, Judiciary, Public Health, Conservation, Environment and Great Lakes Committees.

Inductees will join a notable list of past inductees including nationally noted graduates "Ordinary People" author Judith Guest, activist Tom Hayden, Eagles musician Glenn Frey, and Car and Driver editor and publisher David E. Davis.

The Hall of Fame’s mission is to recognize all contributions that are embodied in the school’s motto: “Enter here to learn, go forth to serve.”
