"Greektown At Sundown" Block Party To Continue Until Sep. 4
The popular "Greektown at Sundown" series of weekend events is set to continue until just before Labor Day.

For the last few summers, Greektown Casino has hosted one of the bigger block parties in the Detroit area: the Greektown at Sundown festival.
Every weekend night starting at 5 P.M., Monroe Street in downtown Detroit has been closed off to visitors in order to turn several blocks of the city into a party with al fresco dining, performers, music, and more.
The unique "block party" vibe of the event has brought a fair share of attention to businesses throughout Detroit and the Greektown area, with participating restaurants like Pizza Papalis, the Golden Fleece, Astoria Bakery, and more all reporting increased traffic and visits thanks to the events, during which each restaurant offers street-side patio dining and, in many cases, food trucks and carts for on-the-street service and meals.

Other organizations have been attracted to the event and its area, as well. During the Greektown at Sundown kickoff event on June 2, the Belle Isle Grand Prix converted part of the area into an interactive display for race fans featuring presentations from Continental Tire, a chance to see the Grand Prix IndyCar up close and personal, and appearances by top names in the world of auto racing.
Event organizers recently announced that the party will continue through September 4, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a special party being held on Labor Day to close out the ceremonies to give Detroit residents, tourists, and guests alike the chance to experience the unique offerings of the Greektown neighborhood.
