Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game Raises $10,000
The money raised in Royal Oak will help 9-year-old William DeMerritt and his family afford an interpreter for gymnastics.

ROYAL OAK, MI — After one of the most successful events in Royal Oak Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game history, this year’s family chosen to benefit from the fundraiser received a check for $10,000.
Royal Oak Police Department Sgt. Patrick Stanton and Royal Oak Fire Department Sgt. Tony Cattini presented the check to the DeMeritt Family of Lake Orion. Nine-year-old William DeMerritt was born deaf and has battled Juvenile Diabetes since 2015. The money raised will help pay for his medical supplies and an interpreter to do one of his passions: gymnastics.
A standing room only crowd watched the Royal Oak Police Department take a 6-2 series lead, with a 9-4 win over the Royal Oak Fire Department on April 14 for the eighth annual event.

The money raised for the DeMeritt’s will provide sign language interpreting services for William for well over a year. ”
