Housing Rehab Money Still Available Under $340K Program
Royal Oak residents have used the program for everything from concrete and roof repair to kitchen and bathroom remodeling.

ROYAL OAK, MI – Low-to-moderate income homeowners in Royal Oak may be eligible for low- or no-interest loans and grants to fix up their homes under a city housing rehabilitation program that in the past has helped residents with a host of projects from concrete replacement to roof repairs to kitchen and bathroom remodeling and heating and cooling systems.

The Daily Tribune reports that the Royal Oak Housing Rehabilitation Program at City Hall helps homeowners with grants of up to $10,000.

Program director Debbie Murray said about 35 homeowners a year take advantage of the program, about 70 percent of whom are senior citizens on fixed incomes.

Federal community development block grant funding supports the program which has a $340,000 budget this fiscal year. About $230,000 has been distributed so far.
