If You're a #ROPoser, Detroit Art Institute Wants Your Selfie

Famous masterpieces are cropping up all over town and the Royal Oak, and the Commission for the Arts is having a bit of fun with it.

Reproductions of 10 famous masterpieces on loan from the Detroit Arts Institute are popping up around Royal Oak as part of the DIA’s Inside|Out Program, designed to increase accessibility to the museum’s vast collection.

“Some people might not want to go to a museum, might not be able to, or frankly don’t know what the museum is all about,” Jillian Reese, the DIA’s community relations specialist, told the Observer & Eccentric. “So Inside|Out is a great way to get people familiarized with our collection and some of the treasurers we have there.”

Residents and visitors will have a chance to see them until October. The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts is having a bit of fun with the exhibit, encouraging people to pose next to Paul Gauguin’s “Self Portrait” and post the snapshot on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ROPoser,Some are already showing up on the Royal Oak Commission for the Arts’ Facebook page.
