JVS Welcomes Hiring Expert for Two Free March Events

A renowned expert will share tips for "overqualified" job seekers and tips for networking at two separate JVS events on March 21.

JVS is pleased to welcome award-winning speaker, author and HR professional Abby Kohut, known around the world as "Absolutely Abby," for two free events on March 21.

At a JVS Business Connections networking event from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Kohut will talk about "Networking for Introverts, Extroverts and In-Between-Verts." She will share how to get comforable with networking, and how to use it as a powerful personal and professional tool to leverage relationships. During a 1:30-3:30 pm seminar on March 21, Kohut will direct her attention to seasoned job seekers in a program co-sponsored by JVS and the Southfield Public Library. In "Success for the Seasoned Search – The Benefit of Being Overqualified," Kohut will share key strategies for overcoming the hurdles of having too much experience. This workshop is free to attend and pre-registration is not required. It will be held at the Southfield Public Library Auditorium, 26300 Evergreen Rd., Southfield. Over the past 22 years, Kohut held positions such as Senior Director of Recruiting for Kaplan, Interim Director of Recruiting for Continuum Health Partners, and Manager of Global Recruiting for Alpharma. She is responsible for helping to hire 10,000 people in eight industries and at all career levels.
