'Kiss and Tell 5' Encourages Residents to Kiss, Then Challenge 5 to Do the Same

Re-enact that famous kiss in a fundraiser for The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial, and you could be featured on a billboard.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Pucker up, baby, and then spread the word: It's more than OK to kiss and tell in this fundraiser for the planned Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial in Royal Oak.

Michigan residents are encouraged to re-enact "Embracing Peace," the famous World War II-ending kiss depicted in the towering "Embracing Peace" statue temporarily installed at Royal Oak's Memorial Park on Woodward Avenue, north of 13 Mile Road — the future site of the World War II memorial.

Here's the idea, which is called "Kiss and Tell 5":

  • Take your kiss photograph in front of the sculpture either re-enacting the kiss, with a group, your dog or by yourself.
  • Spotlight Michigan by re-enacting the kiss in your own backyard or some well-know Michigan location. Consider Sleeping Bear Dunes, the porch of Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island or in front of the Joe Louis fist.
  • Go global and re-enact the kiss at in front of Mount Rushmore, the Eiffel Tower or any famous other national or international location.
  • Put on a nurse’s hat or go all out with a full sailor suit.
  • Make your donation in honor of someone or something that this program inspired. This can be your grandfather, the freedoms tat the Greatest Generation preserved or just the fact that you think a 25-foot "Embracing Peace" statue is cool. Make it personal.
  • Note that your donation will be used to help fund The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial

Now, challenge five friends to do the same by tagging them in a social media. Also, "like" The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial page, tag the page in your picture and tell everyone about the special person or cause you honored with your donation as part of your posting. Be sure your five friends know to challenge five people to do the same.

Tagged pictures may be used to compose a mosaic image of a portion of the picture that may be displayed on a billboard in Royal Oak.
