Royal Oak police blocked off Catalpa near the railroad overpass at about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff’s office and Canadian National Railroad were also at the scene.

Royal Oak Police Lt. Dave Clemens said the conductor of the train reported the incident right after the man was killed at 5:50 a.m.

Witnesses said the man disregarded flashing lights, the railroad traffic arm, and the train’s horn as it approached the intersection of South Main and Sixth streets.
