Maybe concerned citizens need to start now to find someone to oppose Ellison.

To reiterate, since I was banned from posting on the Patch just two weeks before the last election by chief editor Judy Davids who informed me she was under pressure from city hall and the mayor to do it. Later backed by a statement in The Versagi Voice naming names except for "chronic bitcher" who the ban was aimed at, I do wonder if the title "mayor" should be changed in light of this, and the fact that the position has not been challenged for several terms. What comes to mind is: "his Lordship", "his Majesty",or maybe considering the personal attacks I endure almost daily claiming that I am against " all authority" perhaps the term "Fuhrer" would not be entirely out of line.
From what I heard even though I was censored and deleted there were considerably a number of voters who did write in "Batman"
I would not be opposed to a former commissioner with eyes to see that this charter needs to be drastically revised if residents are ever to benefit fully from the incrementally increasing direct taxes, and indirect taxes such as parking tickets. Taxes that seem to go more to defer taxes that should be paid by outside developers, and bar owners for just two examples.
If this keeps up there might someday really be a "fuhrer" in RO's future also known as an efm.
If we are to continue with a mayoral system we need to make the position more attractive salary wise. In the meanwhile, since that can only take effect in a future term we badly need someone who works for the interests of all citizens, not just for PAC's. I would not be adverse to any former commissioner who has not represented a developer, or a bar seeking an expansion, or liquor license approval in the past.
We need to wake up that "laissez-faire" is not a good thing. It stifles upward mobility by confining an economy based on benefiting only the wealthy. Yet, this is what RO has been practicing for too many years with a CBD that has captured city hall in its tentacles.
I am sure that PAC's are already planning for a contingency candidate in case Ellison wants to move on and up.
Now is the time to find volunteers from grass root residents, not just those aspiring to climb a party ladder if RO is ever to get the most bang for its tax dollars.
