Moms Talk: How Important is Class Size in Your Child's Education?

On April 14 members of the Royal Oak board of education approved increasing class size to 30 students for staffing allocations in order to deal with an expected nearly $5 million net deficit in state funding.

The change in class size is an increase of four students from the current school year. The new ratios will go into effect for the 2011-12 school year.

Board members unanimously agreed to also hire six paraprofessionals to assist with the increased teacher-student ratio as required in teacher contracts.

So, the question we have for you this week is, how do you feel about the class size increase? Is 30 too much or acceptable considering cuts must be made?
