OCHN announces naming contest for new children’s crisis care unit

OCHN is turning to the community to help name its new Children's Crisis Care Unit (CCCU) slated to open in September 2022.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI (June 24, 2022) – Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) is
turning to the community to help name its new Children’s Crisis Care Unit (CCCU) slated to open in September 2022. Oakland County residents are being asked to submit name ideas for this valuable community resource. The winner will receive a $500 college scholarship for him /
herself, or a child in their life.

OCHN was awarded a two-year, $5 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Services Administration (SAMHSA) in September 2021 to expand children’s crisis services at
the Resource and Crisis Center for youth under the age of 17 years and younger.

The goal of the CCCU is to reduce prolonged emergency room visits, ensuring families are
connected to a continuum of care in the same manner as physical health emergencies.
Support being provided to hospital emergency department staff includes:
• Children Crisis Screening
• Expedient Care Coordination
• Level of Care Determination
• Ongoing and Engaged Communication Until Crisis is Resolved
• Parental Service Support and Navigation.
