OCHN Joins Effort to Observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month

National Disability Employment Awareness Month educates the public about disability employment issues and celebrate their contributions.

Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) announced its participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October. The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities. This year's theme is "Inclusion Drives Innovation."
“We are extremely proud to be a part of this year's National Disability Employment Awareness Month,” said
OCHN Executive Director and CEO, Willie Brooks. “We value the ability of all individuals and strongly
support the hiring and inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the work force.”
OCHN continues to be committed to helping people with disabilities find and maintain employment. They
have implemented several programs that support customized and supported employment while partnering
with the State of Michigan to provide training and host events that bring subject matter experts and other
resources to Oakland County.
In 1988, Congress expanded what was then known as "National Employ the Handicapped Week" to a month
and changed the name. To learn more about National Disability Employment Awareness Month and to find
