Partially Mummified Man Found in Hazel Park Home

A 61-year-old woman "in dire need of medical attention" was taken into protective custody, police said.

HAZEL PARK, MI — Authorities found a partially mummified body of a man in a Hazel Park home earlier this week after they were called to the home on the 100 block of West Milton to investigate a “potential hazardous situation,” police said.

City employees investigating the reported code violation alerted police, the Hazel Park Police Department said Friday in the news release.



A 61-year-old woman living in the home “was in dire need of medical attention as well as a mental evaluation” was taken into protective custody and transported to a hospital, according to the news release.

[RECIC]The utilities were shut off because of the condition of the home, and adult protective services agencies were notified, according to the release.

The partially mummified body is “presumably (that) of a 78-year-old” male resident of the home, according to the release. The man’s name hasn’t been released, pending confirmation by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
