Poesy heralds the season with holiday decor and gifts in mind

The Poesy gift gallery in Royal Oak, a destination for unique, one-of-a-kind artisan items and functional art, plus free gift wrapping with all purchases, is ready to spread cheer to shoppers this holiday season. Located at 32184 Woodward Ave., Poesy is stocked with a large selection of holiday décor and handmade gifts for everyone under one roof.

Beginning Black Friday, the traditional start to the holiday shopping season, Poesy will extend its hours to accommodate evening and after work customers: noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. To help shoppers maintain their stamina on Black Friday, Poesy will offer complimentary sips and snacks.

On Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, Poesy will extend its hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Customers who spend a minimum of $35 at Poesy will receive a complimentary gift bag. The more they spend, the better the grab bag gets. Customers also can shop, take a photo of their Poesy receipt and then text ShopTextWin to 41411 and enter for a chance to win $5,000 through Oakland County Small Business Saturday Contest. One of Poesy’s customers last year won $1,000 in the drawing for third place.

One lucky shopper at the end of the holiday season will win a $300 Poesy gift basket full of items personally curated by Laginess. Customers can enter the in-store drawing with every purchase.

Customers also can help several local nonprofit organizations and community groups by shopping at Poesy. For every sale of a handmade ornament by metro Detroit artist Jean Peplinski, 100 percent of the sale will be donated to Animal House of South East Michigan, a no kill animal rescue that works primarily with cats and dogs through adoption, owner assistance and community education. Poesy also will collect cash donations at the front counter, as it does year-round for the Royal Oak-based organization.

Poesy also is hosting several shopping nights to benefit specific organizations, including Love, Team Tessa (Dec. 5) and Tigerlily Cat Rescue (Dec. 12). Local nonprofit organizations and community groups looking to raise funds during the holidays can contact Poesy to reserve a charitable shopping evening. Poesy provides the sweets, snacks and beverages and a check for 10 percent of the evening’s sales.

New this year, Poesy’s custom crates are made-to-order for all budgets and personalized for everyone on one's list: him/her, little ones, teachers, moms-to-be, fashionistas, foodies, etc. Other examples include "Hostess with the Mostest" and "Crate of Michigan Makers" and "Indulgence Crate," which could include premium candles, luxurious hand lotions and elegant fragrances.
