ROHS's 10/21 Cancer Awareness Football Game is dedicated to the Regan family
Kathy Regan is a local mom of five students spanning several schools throughout the district including the high school. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Appendix Cancer in March of 2014 and has been in treatment ever since, which has included 3 major surgeries (the last was August 3 of this year) and over 35 rounds of I.V. and oral chemo. Appendix Cancer is very rare. Affecting 1 for every million cancer diagnoses per year. Of that, her pathology only affects .25% of that 1 in a million. The cancer is appearing to be almost in remission, so a return to maintenance chemo will be next after recovering from the last 9 hour surgery. Her husband Dave just started a new position with Oakland Schools as a Field Services Tech after having his long time job phased out in the private school sector - he took the time during his lengthy job search to retrain for information technology.
Both Kathy and Dave are former students of Royal Oak schools, having attended Parker Elementary, Addams Junior High and Kimball High School together. Jess is a senior this year at ROHS, Nick and Ava will be attending ROMS, and Sophie and Bella attend Upton. Their spirit as a family is strong, but their finances have taken a deep hit within the last two years. Any outside assistance is very much appreciated.

Let's do whatever we can do as a school, as a community, as a family to help the Regan family stay strong! Stay Regan Strong!! There will be T-shirts & Regan Strong bracelets sold during lunch, after school and at the home high school football games. There will also be a bake sale during the 10/21 Cancer Awareness game to help raise money for the Regan family. All proceeds will go directly to the Regan family.
