Royal Oak Man Arrested Driving With .271 Alcohol Level: Police

TROY, MI — Troy Police arrested a 28-year-old man for drunk driving after he crashed his in a ditch and registered a .271 blood alcohol content level, police said.

Officers said they responded to a 2006 Ford Taurus that crashed in a ditch off of Interstate 75 near Granite City Restaurant on Dec. 9 at 1:11 p.m. There was also a broken metal fence and multiple broken parking blocks.

The 28-year-old man from Royal Oak told police he was going to work at a nearby business, police said.

The driver told police he had not consumed alcohol since the previous night and that was only two drinks, However, officers noted a moderate odor of intoxicants coming from the driver. So officers made he do several field sobriety test, which he failed, police said.

He was arrested and transported to the Troy Police Lock-Up Facility where he agreed to submit to a Chemical Breath Test with results of .30% and .30%, police said.
