Royal Oak Dentists Whiten Teeth for Charity

Brighten your smile and that of a child by participating in Smiles for Life.

Through June 30, Gustafson Morningstar Dentistry, of Royal Oak, is offering teeth whitening at a discounted rate and donating a portion of the proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Oakland & Macomb Counties.

"What we do is we whiten your teeth and all the proceeds go to our national charity, Smiles for Life, and 50 percent of those proceeds come back to the Boys & Girls Clubs," said Dr. Steve Gustafson.

Drs. Gustafson and Shari Morningstar are Crown Council members—an alliance of dental teams committed to promoting oral health and serving through charitable work. Smiles for Life's participating children’s charities include Children’s Miracle Network, Children of Romania, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, CURE (in Cambodia), Smiles For Hope, and the Kids Cancer Care Foundation, according to the foundation's website.

"This is a good opportunity if you've ever thought about whitening your teeth, because not only are you brightening your smile but you're helping the children of the community," said Gustafson.

Ultradent donates all of the teeth whitening supplies, and Gustafson and Morningstar donate all of their time to whiten teeth during the campaign, Gustafson said.

There are three different options for brightening your smile. Prices range from $225 for a 60- to 90-minute procedure in the dentists' office to $125 for custom take-home trays to $95 for whitening strips.

The goal is to raise $5,000 this year, Gustafson said.
