Royal Oak Has Limited Number of Schools of Choice Openings

Eligible students must reside in Oakland County. Two application periods announced, one for grades K-3, another for grades 4-8.

ROYAL OAK, MI – Royal Oak Schools is accepting a limited number of Schools of Choice applications for grades four through eight for the 2016-2017 school year, the district said in a news release.

Applications will be accepted June 13-July 8. Eligible students must reside in Oakland County.

Schools of Choice applications will be available on the district website, royaloakschools.org, and at the District Enrollment Office, 800 DeVillen, Royal Oak, 48073.

The Enrollment Office is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Enrollments need to be started by 4 p.m. to allow time for the completion of the enrollment process by 4:30 p.m. when the office closes.

The district is also accepting Schools of Choice applications for students who will be in kindergarten, first, second or third grade beginning in September 2016. Applications for these grades will be accepted through Aug. 12, 2016.

The assignment of students to schools and classrooms will be on a space available basis. Once students are enrolled as Schools of Choice students in the district they may continue to attend through high school graduation, provided their enrollment is continuous.

For all Schools of Choice enrollments, the district reserves the right to refuse to enroll any non-resident applicant if that applicant is or has been suspended from another district within the preceding two years or if the applicant has ever been suspended from another district.
