Royal Oak Man Arrested for Trying to Drive Over Acquaintance

After a dispute, the suspect allegedly tried to run over another man with his car.

Royal Oak, MI – A Royal Oak man, 28, was arrested for felony assault June 19 after he allegedly tried to run over another man with his car.

The Oakland Press reported that police were called to Wagner Park about 8:40 p.m. to investigate the assault.

According to police, the suspect and an acquaintance were at the park at Rochester Road and Detroit Street and got into a dispute.

The two men argued over an item the suspect had bought from the other man that reportedly stopped working, police said.

The suspect allegedly drove his car into the park and tried to run down the man who sold him the item. The other man got out of the way of the car and escaped without injury.

When police arrived, the suspect had fled, but was later arrested at his home in Royal Oak.

Police said they expect the suspect to be arraigned in Royal Oak 44th District Court.
