Royal Oak Man Embraces Nerd Culture with New Podcast
Brent Brozek is one of five co-hosts of the Not So Cool Kids Podcast.
If your life spins aroundΒ comic books, Pokemon cards or a Pez dispenser collection, aΒ Royal OakΒ man hopes you'll give hisΒ podcastΒ revolving around nerd cultureΒ a listen.
Brent Brozek, 40,Β collects DC Superhero action figures and is the co-host of theΒ Not So Cool KidsΒ podcast with four friends.Β Kelcie Banas is the cult and horror film expert;Β Kat RuffΒ plays the children's card game Pokemon, as well as other fantasy card games; Michael Lomas is the comic book expert andΒ Brian Titus readsΒ graphic novels.
TitusΒ decided to start the podcast after losing his marketing and public relations job earlier this year.
"We call ourselves the Not So Cool Kids because, you know, there was that table at high school that all the not so cool kids sat at, and that's kind of what we do every Thursday or Friday," Titus said.
The Not So Cool Kids have produced ten episodes so far, all of which are free to watch or listen to the audio.Β
The episodes contain segments called 'Cinefile,' or a movie review, 'Collectors Corner' where the hosts or guests share something they collect and something calledΒ 'Versus.'
"Versus is where we take two random people from fiction or the nonfiction universe -Β Abraham Lincoln versus Captain America, then we just talk about who would win," Titus said.Β

"A nerd is someone who is really passionate about something that most people do not think is cool,"Β Brozek said.Royal OakΒ could useΒ more of a nerd market, according to Brozek, who moved here after college.Β Still, he quickly helped PatchΒ come up with a list of five places to get your nerd on in town.
