Royal Oak May Sell City Hall, Police Headquarters
A development group wants to buy the property for a six-story, 120,000-square-foot office building.

ROYAL OAK, MI – Royal Oak may sell its City Hall and police station.
The Plante Moran CRESA consulting firm was retained for $30,000 to determine if it makes economic sense to approve a proposal to buy the property by Central Park Development, a collaboration between the Lansing-based real estate development firm and the Birmingham-based Surnow Co., The Daily Tribune reports.

The group wants wants to create a new six-story 120,000-square-foot building and parking deck at the space, located at 211 S. Williams St., and use existing parking lots for green space.

A formal financial and site plan could be presented to the Royal Oak City Commission in May.
The Downtown Development Authority isn’t involved in the proposal, but chairman Jay Dunstan approves so far.
“I think it would be a great enhancement to the downtown,” he said.
