Royal Oak Police Find Skimming Devices

7-Eleven Stores and ATMs are targets for debit card scam.

ROYAL OAK, MI — The Royal Oak Police Department is investigating skimming devices found on ATM machines inside two local 7-Eleven Stores.

On Oct. 1, officers were called to the 7-Eleven store at 1121 N. Campbell for a skimming device that had been discovered on the ATM by a customer. A few hours later, officers were called to the 7-Eleven at 3305 N. Main Street for a skimming device that had been found on the ATM by an employee. According to a media release, devices were recovered.

The Royal Oak Police Criminal Investigations Division is investigating, in conjunction with Southeast Michigan Financial Crimes Task Force. Residents & business owners are asked to be vigilant for these types of devices and report any suspicious incidents to police. If you believe your bank account has been compromised, notify your banking institution immediately, and contact your local police department.
