Royal Oak Schools Announce Kindergarten Welcome Nights

Each of the district's six elementary schools will host welcome nights in December. Check the schedule below for your school.

Royal Oak Schools will host Kindergarten Welcome Nights at each of the district’s six elementary schools December 9-16. Welcome Nights provide a time for parents of incoming kindergarten students to visit the school and meet the kindergarten teacher. Parents are encouraged to attend and see the building, staff, and curriculum their child will experience.

Kindergarten Welcome Nights will be held:

  • Tuesday, December 9, 6:30 p.m. - Keller Elementary, 1505 N. Campbell
  • Tuesday, December 9, 6:30 p.m. - Oakland Elementary, 2415 E. Brockton
  • Thursday, December 11, 6:30 p.m. - Addams Elementary, 2222 W. Webster
  • Thursday, December 11, 6:30 p.m. - Northwood Elementary, 926 W. 12 Mile
  • Tuesday, December 16, 6:30 p.m. - Oak Ridge Elementary, 506 E. 13 Mile
  • Tuesday, December 16, 6:30 p.m. - Upton Elementary, 4400 Mandalay

Resident student enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year will begin on January 5, 2015. All enrollments are completed at the district central enrollment office, located at 800 DeVillen, Royal Oak, MI 48073.

Royal Oak welcomes Schools of Choice students from Oakland County in kindergarten, first, second and third grades. Students enrolled as Schools of Choice students may continue in Royal Oak Schools through grade 12, as long as their enrollment is continuous. Placement of students enrolled through Schools of Choice in a particular elementary school is determined on a space available basis following enrollment in the district.

Michigan State law states that a child be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2015 in order to enroll in kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. Information regarding enrollment of children with birthdays between September 1, 2010, and December 1, 2010, in kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year may be obtained by visiting the enrollment section of the district website www.royaloakschools.org

Families are encouraged to visit the enrollment section of the district website www.royaloakschools.org for information regarding the documents necessary for enrollment.
