Royal Oak Students Participate in German Exchange Program

School and families hosted 20 German students; 20 Royal Oak students will visit Germany in June.

(Posted Nov. 16, 2016) ROYAL OAK, MI — Twenty students from Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Waldkirch, Germany, spent Oct. 18-Nov. 3 attending Royal Oak High School, learning about American traditions and pastimes as participants in the school's long-running German American Partnership Exchange Program. Both U.S. and German students in the reciprocal study abroad program told The Royal Oak Review that they learned about each country's culture, differences in educational systems and lifestyle in the program that matches students in the high school's German class in what ROHS student Raven Rebecca Bourlier described as a two-week sleepover in which she put into everyday conference the lessons she had learned in class about conjugating verbs. The Royal Oak students go to Germany at the end of the school year.
