Royal Oak Taco Week Features Tacos, Tequila, Lucha Libre Wrestling​

Downtown Royal Oak will host its first-ever Taco Week​ this weekend from July 1 through the Forth of July.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Downtown Royal Oak will host its first-ever Taco Week this weekend from July 1 through the Forth of July.

More than 40 restaurants, including Rock on Third, Pronto!, Imaginate, the Side Bar, Royal Oak Brewery and Lily’s Seafood will be making unique and special tacos. Many restaurants will also be having tequila specials.

Although the festival will smell like tacos and tequila, there will be a variety of food trucks, giving everyone an opportunity to enjoy something.

Their will also be live entertainment, including live music from three separate stages playing music from a variety of genres, a hot pepper challenge, timed taco eating contests and even Lucha Libre Wrestling.

A separate kids zone in the downtown area will feature bounce houses, face painting and more.

There's even something for dogs during the festivities, as a dog pageant will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-1 p.m. Winners will have the chance to receive a pet store gift card.

The festival opens at 301 W. Fourth Street, Suite #440 Friday at 4 p.m. After that, it'll open at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, running through 11 p.m. each night except on Monday, when it'll shut down at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door or $7 if purchased online here.
