Royal Oak Woman Inducted Into Athletic Hall of Fame
Trine University inducts tennis star Amy Schneider for excellence on and off the court.

Amy L. (Hockman) Schneider, a 1998 chemical engineering graduate, was recently inducted into Trine University’s Athletic Hall of Fame during homecoming festivities.
Schneider, of Royal Oak, played a significant role in putting the university tennis program on the national radar. As a freshman, she garnered Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards. Also in 1995, she was recognized by the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference as an All-Conference player.
As a captain the following year, Schneider continued to improve upon her success and was again named to the WHAC All-Conference team. She and her doubles partner won the No. 2 Doubles Great Lakes Regional Championship.

The three-year captain excelled off the court, too. She earned the Dean’s Scholarship in 1994, Dean’s List honors twice in 1997 and the President’s List in spring 1998. Schneider was also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Gamma Phi Epsilon and the Panhellenic Council.
