Sami Stormont's 42 Points Sets Royal Oak Basketball Record

“Sami had an outstanding overall game,” Royal Oak Ravens girls basketball coach Brian Sopata said. “Her shot was on and she did a great job of driving to the basket and getting to the free throw line."
Stormont's big night including drilling five 3-pointers and converting 17-of-22 free throws for Royal Oak, according to a Detroit News report. She also had 13 rebounds and four steals.

Stormont, who is averaging 23 points and has been in double figures in all 13 games, can explode at any time, Sopata told The News. "She's been in the 30s twice and in double figures every single game. She has it in her and tonight was one of those games where everything was clicking."
Sopata was also happy with the entire team effort. "Our team did a great job executing the offense and getting Sami the ball in situations where she could be successful as well,” he said.

Micaela Ellis led Ferndale with 15 points.
Royal Oak is 12-1 (9-1 Oakland Activities Association Blue) on the season. Ferndale is 5-7 (4-6 OAA Blue).
