Stick Your Neck Out: Choose Your Favorite Name for Giraffe Calf
Thousands of names were submitted, and the zoo staff has narrowed them down to five finalists. It's easy to vote.

Five names have been selected as finalists in the Detroit Zoo’s naming contest for the baby giraffe calf born Sept. 30.
The names and their meanings in Swahili include:
- Mpenzi (love)
- Zawadi (gift)
- Ajabu (wonderful)
- Amani (peace)
- Kijana (young man)
Click here to vote. A donation is required, and people may vote as many times as they’d like. The minimum donation is $5.
