Summer Music Camp for String Students!
Fiddler's Fest is a weeklong string summer music camp located in Huntington Woods, MI. The program is for string players in grades 6-12.

Hello! My name is Leah Pernick and I am a violin student and teacher entering my senior year at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Along with several other music students, I run a weeklong summer music program in August for middle school and high school students in the Metro-Detroit area. The program, now in it's fifth year, is dedicated to promoting student involvement in music, as well as giving students the opportunity to play chamber music with their peers. This summer, the camp will take place from August 19th-23rd with a final concert on Friday, August 23rd. There are two sessions for the camp: Intermediate (generally middle school students and younger) and Advanced (aimed at high school students or more advanced players).
In both programs, students will participate in small ensembles and string orchestra. Rehearsals will be led by our dedicated faculty and students will have the opportunity to receive individual assistance with their instrument as needed.
For many of our past students, this program has been the first time that they have had the opportunity to play (and be coached) in chamber music groups. Some groups formed at Fiddler's Fest have even continued playing together during the school year.

In addition to learning chamber music, we will have workshops on sight-reading and other technical skills throughout the week. At the end of the program, students will be able to present the music that we have worked on throughout the week at a concert for family and friends followed by a celebratory reception. With each year, we work on making Fiddler's Fest an even more engaging and educational musical experience for everyone involved.
If you know of any string students in the area that may be interested in this program, please direct them to our website, https://fiddlersfest.com/ or email fiddlersfest@gmail.com! We do have scholarships available on a need basis.
