Another stitch in the quilt, another section completed, soon it will be finished. But in life there are always interruptions, like work and walking the dogs. If not for the fact that I have to work to pay the bills I could quilt and garden all day long.
If those of us who love to quilt don't keep the long standing richness of an old fashioned pastime alive, it will fade away.To many of life's treasures have already been forgotten like drive-in movies, Soupy Sales, comic books and roller skates.
We live life in the fast lane, but frankly I would rather slow down, take a stitch or two or three in the quilt, plant a few flowers and sip ice tea.
This quilt has been a work in progress for almost two years, the quilt top was completed several months ago, but the hand quilting is a long process. I love to hand quilt, it is also a forgotten art, but one that I'll always treasure. This quilt is for my aunt, she picked blue and it is a beauty. When it is finally finished, then I'll continue stitching on one for a new baby. If I'm lucky this quilt will be done before the little one arrives. I have a few more weeks and without to many interruptions I should be able to get it done. Go on and enjoy every moment of every day, plant a flower, sip some tea and slow down a bit while I go back to my stitching, the birds singing their lively chorus while I work, the cat purring in the chair nearby. I refuse to let life in the fast lane pass time to quickly, stitch one, stitch again, another row complete.
