The Tennis & Golf Company host Golf Shoe & Ball Drive
Now until Oct. 31 the Midwest's largest tennis & golf shop will collect donations of new and gently-used items to benefit Midnight Golf

The Tennis & Golf Company, the largest specialty tennis and golf shop in the Midwest, today announced it will host a golf shoe and ball drive to benefit the Midnight Golf program.
Now through Oct. 31, the specialty shop will accept donations of new and gently-used golf shoes and balls. Items can be dropped off during regular store hours at the Tennis & Golf Company at 30211 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak.
Midnight Golf is a Detroit-area nonprofit dedicated to helping develop young adults through life skills training, proactive coaching, long-term mentoring and the discipline of golf in order to succeed in college, their careers and beyond.

Over the past 18 years, more than 2,750 engaged and committed Midnight Golf program participants have been admitted to more than 140 colleges and universities nationwide. The program’s college graduation rate is 70 percent, four times the rate of Detroit students without support.
“Golf has taught me a lot over the years. Patience, problem-solving, communication and respect, attributes that help you succeed in life,” said Andy Schepper, co-owner and CEO of the Tennis & Golf Company. “I’ve seen the transformative power of programs like Midnight Golf on the lives of youth and alumni that graduate from college and go on to the careers of their dreams. It’s very powerful.”

The Tennis & Golf Company has been a long-time fixture in Royal Oak and the destination for quality tennis and golf apparel, equipment and service. It recently was purchased by experienced sporting-goods retailers Steve Kopitz and Andy Schepper. For 25 years Kopitz owned Summit Sports, with multiple locations in Michigan, including its ski shop Don Thomas Sporthaus in Birmingham and online ski retailer Skis.com. Schepper worked with Kopitz at Summit Sports for more than 20 years, serving as Summit Sports’ COO.
The Tennis & Golf Company is now open seven days a week and evenings: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
