There is scientific evidence that many weight related conditions, such as elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and sleep apnea, can be improved with 5-10% weight loss.
Excess body weight is associated with about 25-30% of cases of high blood pressure. By losing 5-10% of one's weight, blood pressure decreases by 5 points on average.
Maintaining a healthy, normal range blood pressure also reduces your risk for stroke, kidney damage, heart attack and dementia.
