Thieves Target Chrysler Vans in GPS System Thefts

Also, Royal Oak police arrested a sex offender who was not in compliance with the terms of the Michigan sex offender registry.

ROYAL OAK, MI – Two people reported the thefts of in-dash navigation systems to Royal Oak police in the last week.

Both vehicles were Chrysler Town and Country vans.

The first theft occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 400 block of S. Edison.

Sometime between 6:45-8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, someone broke out the driver side door window of the van and stole the navigation system while the vehicle was parked in the First Presbyterian Church parking lot at 529 Hendrie.

Sex Offender Arrest

4400 block of Judson, 5-2-16, 7:41 a.m.: A Royal Oak officer noted a registered sex offender living in Royal Oak failed to meet the reporting requirements of the Sex Offender Registry Act. Officers were able to locate the subject and arrested him for failing to comply without incident. 16-15058

Larceny

300 block of E. Twelve Mile, 1-1-16 – 5-1-16, 8:01 a.m. – 8:01 a.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect had stolen the license plate tabs from her 2002 GMC truck. 16-14985

Larceny from Automobile

200 S. Center (Parking Structure), 4-29-16 – 4-30-16, 5:00 p.m. – 1:05 p.m.: Complainant reported she parked her vehicle on the second floor of the structure. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect broke out the passenger side front window and stole an undisclosed amount of currency. 16-14866
