Top Excuses People Give for Not Working Out
- I'm too busy. Okay. But I'll bet you have time to watch all the shows you DVR'd, or saved on Netflix, or On Demand, or Hulu...
- I'm over-the-hill. I have friends in their 60's who do boot camp.
- I hate exercising alone. Call a friend, sign up for a fitness class, or do a summer boot camp fitness class. There are LOT's of ways to get out and get moving (and they're cost effective, too).
- I have kids. Exercising with your kids is a GREAT family activity! Don't just be an example to them as a provider. Live healthy together!
- My (insert body part here) hurts. My history of obesity has left me with arthritis and a need for a total knee replacement. I box, spin, ride a bike, run, lift weights, head up and participate in boot camp activities.
- I'm too fat to do anything. Um...look at my pictures. Two years ago I was pushing close to 400lbs. You're NOT too fat to move. So...drop the Twinkies.
- I'm not fat. Studies show you can be thin and still be unhealthy. Exercise prolongs your life, improves sleeping, increases stamina, and it is a great mood stabilizer.
- I don't like the gym. Park, sidewalk, bike, outdoor sports, outdoor fitness activities, spelunking.
- I can't afford a membership. See #8. You can use objects in your home or out in the real world to exercise.
- I don't feel like it. Okay, I get it. But if your health has been in question, and you have family who loves you. Maybe you might want to consider feeling like it.
